3 weeks and counting!

The tickets have arrived – all paid for!

Plane: Oslo – London – SF and Miami – London – Oslo

Hotel and rental car in California and Florida. We need to get some details down as where to go and where to stay, but we took a look at the map today and the distances are not long (everyone told us that it’s a LOOONG drive.. pfft.. ) – what do they know about distances ;)

I guess we’ll have some major jet lag after leavning London at 11:30 am – arriving in San Fracisco at 2:45 pm – after 11 hours stuck on a plane!

If there anyone out there who has some great tips how to avoid (read – adjust) to a new time zone – do tell me!

My friend emailed this to me saying it was the latest fashion in Japan. I’m not sure I will  call our friend who’s there visiting his gf to buy me one, but hey! They’re fun though. If I  would buy one – I’d pick one with a sexy ass – wouldn’t you?

I haven’t done much crocheting lately. I used to crochet a lot of doilies – and even a large table cloth! But I find that crochet is too slow compared to knitting so therefore – no crocheting.

Surfing my friend Virtuella’s blog I found this pattern for Anne scarf thought I’d try it out.

First try wasn’t a success as I used a small hook and very fine yarn – it looked like something a doll would use. So I frogged it and searched the house up and down for a large hook I knew I had.. somewhere. Looking through all my stash :) (I’m on a “do not buy any more yarn diet) I found some nice Noro Kureyon yarn I bought some years ago – and with the skeins – Voila! My hook!

So – 2nd try was way more successful! The colors are hard to see so I’ll try to get a better picture of it, but it varies from pink – yellow – green – blue – brown.. if you know Noro you know what I mean

My friend, Hanne, has turned into a tennis geek (not sure when it happened – must have been an over-the-night thingy ;) and she loves Rafa above everything (did I mention she is single?). Anyway – Rafa is blogging every day from US Open and fans can mail him questions so of course Hanne mailed him.

Here is what she wrote and his answer (thank you Hanne for the image I now got.. Rafa in pink undies… I guess it could be worse).

Hello Rafa! I have been watching your tournaments this season and am awestruck and impressed. You are clearly having a wonderful season and I wish you the best of luck for the rest of it. There is however a rumor going around of your laundry skills needing some work. Another athlete claims to have seen you mixing your colors with your whites in the laundry room in the Olympic Village. Are you now wearing pink, or did you manage to avoid the disaster? Hanne,Norway

RN: I managed to avoid disaster. But you seem to know more than me… :-)

(from this picture I guess it was a disaster.. or maybe he thinks he’s “pretty in pink” (ok.. bad joke).

Anyway – GO HANNE!!

flaggus.jpgI can’t believe we’re off to the US in 28 days! We’ll be away for 25 days and I hope we’ll have a lot to lookforward to.

I just checked the rules for hand baggage on BA flights and it says:

Can I take knitting/crochet needles in my hand baggage?
No, these items must be safely packed in your checked baggage.

So I guess I’ll be bringing a book and some music for the 11 h flight *sigh*
