Steinhart Aquarium

- or California Academy of Science is the place to visit if you like science.

We heard about it while watching Mythbusters and thought we should visit. Our tour bus stops right outside and this was an easy way to get to and from. In addtion to the aquarium (which was what we really wanted to visit) we suggest you join a tour into the planatarium.

Tickets are free, but you have to get a ticket for any of the free viewings. Go early as there are a lot of school classes there. A few pics from Steinhart.

First – our computer power supply doesn’t fit the power convertor so we might not post anything tomorrow. So – I just wanna make a quick post about today. The last time we were here we didn’t take any tourist bus around SF, but we did today!

I’d suggest that you do this rather than visit the Rock (if you’re here for only a day or two). We visited the rock last time we were here and it was just too many people and queues everywhere!

The weather today was really hot. We were in the mid 90′s today (oppe i  de 30) – LA had an all time high of 113. Tomorrow will be even warmer, so we plan to be early birds to visit the Steinhard aquarium. Here are some pics from today. I’ll tell you more about them laterm, but wanted you at home to see :)

Take a look at the Pier 39 pictures. When we were here in 2008 this place was filled with seals, but this year – celebrating their 20th birthday party for being at the pier – there were close to none! I wonder were they all are?

4 days and we’re off!

We’re counting down! This coming Sunday and we’re off! Yesterday we upgraded the seats from Hawaii to LA since this will be a day spent on a plane. I’m trying to make a to-do list so we don’t forget anything, but as long as we have the tickes, passports and our credit cards we can just buy the stuff we forget - right? :)

Less than 2 weeks till take-off

Since we didn’t want to be stuck in a coach this time we upgraded our seats. I had no idea one could choose seats earlier than 24 hrs before take-off, but we could. The flight from London to San Francisco was already quite booked, but atleast we managed to get seats beside each other. On our way home we got the seats we wanted – 2 seats to ourselves :) I just hope I can get some sleep on the 11 hrs flight – cause neither of us couldn’t get any sleep the last time we took the very same flight *fingers crossed* I’ve already had a look at the in-flight program – if we can’t sleep it looks like we have a few funny movies to watch. Dreaming of Hawaii

I made this some time ago. I borrowed a few pics here and there – hoping to make a new with our own pictures when we return from Hawaii. Music is Era – Sinfoni Deo. Click the picture to see the movie.

Meeting “old” friends

Those who know us know that we met while playing MUD (multi user dungeon). My hubby knew this girl (oh yeah – this was so long ago that we were all young) – and she and her husband lives on O’ahu – we’re so looking forward to meeting them both! Add a personal guide and I think some great company – this will give the trip that special something that will give us some really great memories!

Adding another tool for the trip

Two years ago when we went to the states for the first time we had a lot of gadgets with us.

A Nikon D60 camera, a Sony video camera and our beloved Acer (mini) computer! We both love the D60 camera, so this year we bought another one – a more recent version of the same camera – D3000. That way we can both take a lot of pictures. Nikon D3000

One step closer to Hawaii

PlumeriaWe’re getting closer to Hawaii with even more details on the paper and stuff paid for. The plan so far is this: Oslo – London – San Francisco. We’ll stay in SF for 4 days – leaving for Honolulu in the afternoon on the 30th of September. We’ll be staying at the New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel in Honolulu - and our view will be something like this: New Otani Kaimana   After a rather rainy summer here in Norway, we hope for some sun and warmth – and time to relax! Our trip home will be a long one with leaving Honolulu at 6:30 am for LA. Leaving LA at 2120 in the evening. We had 2 hrs to get our luggage and check-in again and we figured out it wasn’t worth the stress – running around in a big airport where you’re not familiar at all. So we’ll have some 6+ hrs to kill (3 hrs time difference from Honolulu to LA) before the plane leaves for London. We’ve upgraded our seats a bit to get more leg space since we’re both quite tall we don’t wanna spend 11 hrs stuck like sardines in a tin can. I think it’s worth the money! So – after a day in the air – we’ll be back in Oslo Oct 15th in the evening. That gives us two days to adjust to 12 hrs time difference before we’re going back at work :)
