A nice weekend in Denmark
We took Friday off and drove to Denmark! Such a nice weather and we were lucky enough to have almost no rain! (even though the weather forecast told us something totally different!).
It’s not really a long drive, but it’s the same road we’ve driven so many times, but this time we had our lovely, new car! (yes, still love it).
Our way down we drove past this old English bus – quite the view on the highway. We also had a little race with two Swedish boys in a chipped Audi A3 – we won! Both cars had great fun and they waved at us after the “race”.
The hotel room wasn’t quite ready when we got there, so we had brunch at Cafe Olai – one of our fav. places to eat. It’s not a fancy place – it’s small – you have to order and pay for the food at the counter, but the food! Lot’s of it and yummy! We’ve been there quite a few times and even brought my parents here in April. After checking in we relaxed at bit before we drove up to Gilleleje – about 45 min from the hotel. They have this nice food store that we love. Ended up buying a lot of wine – yes, you can buy it in the local store!
Saturday started in Hillerød and at Plantorama where we got a good laugh at some naked guinea pigs! We’d never seen it before and I almost laughed my heart out when I was going to take their pics! We then went to the “town” where we bought some signs for the wall. I saw this nice quote when were there in April, but didn’t buy it. Lucky for me it was still for sale!
We hadn’t gotten much sleep the night before (or the night before that) due to a concert at the hotel – lasting till am 2:30, but I was falling asleep as JO stopped at Hansens Flødeis where we got some much needed sugar and some really yummy icecream! We didn’t take any pics here – too busy eating 😉
We ended the day with a visit to Mosehuset with Mette – a childhood friend of JO. She lives close by to Mosehuset, but had never been there! After quite a bit of shopping we ended the lovely day with dinner in Roskilde at Restaurant Raadhuskælderen – lot’s of really good food – not that expensive either!
The weekend went too fast and after a good breakfast we drove home – stopping at the border to buy some food. I’m glad we’re going back in August and then we’re staying for 6 days! Time goes fast when you have a good time!
